RoHS-Six Restriction of Hazardous Substances

The Restriction of Hazardous Substances

1. Cadmium (Cd)

< 100 ppm

2. Lead (Pb)

< 1000 ppm

3. Mercury (Hg)

< 1000 ppm

4. Hexavalent

    Chromium

    (Cr 6+)

< 1000 ppm

5. Polybrominated

    Diphenyl Ethers

    (PBDE)

< 1000 ppm

6. Polybrominated

    Biphenyls (PBB)

< 1000 ppm

ppm ppm = parts per million, unit of measurement for weight percentage. 1 ppm = 1 mg/kg =0.0001 % by weight.

How The Hazardous Substances Affect Human

1. Cadmium (Cd)

The main human health effects include renal dysfunction, growth disturbances, skeletal damage and reproductive deficiencies. Cadmium is also suspected of causing liver, lung and prostate cancer.

2. Lead (Pb)

Lead can have toxic effects on the endocrine and central and peripheral nervous systems, and cause brain damage in children./ Lead is known to cause damage to the central and peripheral nervous systems, blood system and kidneys in humans. Effects on the endocrine system have also been observed and its serious negative effects on children's brain development have been well documented.

3. Mercury (Hg)

It can cause chronic damage to various organs including the brain and kidneys as well as the fetus.

4. Hexavalent

    Chromium (Cr 6+)

It causes strong allergic reactions even in small concentrations. Asthmatic bronchitis is another allergic reaction linked to Chromium VI. Chromium VI may also cause DNA damage.

5. Polybrominated

    Diphenyl Ethers

    (PBDE)

Affect liver enzyme production, negatively affect thyroid hormone system and induce immunotoxicity. Induce neurotoxicty when administered at sensitive period of brain growth.

6. Polybrominated

    Biphenyls (PBB)
